Gala Bingo names its number one caller

Gala Bingo is proud to announce that Michael Edwards has been named Gala Bingo Caller of the Year 2007, marking the culmination of a nationwide search.

Michael Edwards was crowned in Birmingham's Gala Bingo Kingsbury Road on Sunday 8th July. Fighting off strong competition from ten of Gala Bingo's best callers, Michael won £500 in prize money, a trophy and a much sought after audition for Gala TV.

Gala TV aired on Sky Digital Channel 841, is the world's first red button interactive TV play bingo and is also home to some of the most famous and successful bingo callers.

Following his win Michael said "I'm really looking forward to my audition for Gala TV. Having the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Brian Gillat, and working alongside presenters such as Charlie MCardle, is really exciting. I love my job and it's just got a whole lot better!"

Dominic Harrison, MD Gala Bingo added, "Gala Bingo's Caller of the Year competition is in its fourth year, and is part of our 'creating a buzz calling' programme. This really important initiative sets us apart from our competitors. It incorporates Calling Schools, which ensure that Gala Bingo's callers are supported and helped to meet the various performance criteria necessary to be the best in the business.

"The competition emphasises the high regard in which we hold our callers, who are fundamental in our customers' enjoyment of the game. Being a caller takes great skill and, as ever, the standard of entrants this year was incredibly high."
