Presenting the awards, Geoffrey Godbold OBE - Director of The GREaT Foundation - said:

"We are extremely grateful to all those that made a donation for 2010/11 and special thanks go to our sponsors today for making The GREaT Foundation Annual Awards 2010 possible. We appreciate that the last year has been very tough financially for the Industry as a whole and it is, therefore, even more gratifying to see operators making a special effort by increasing their support of The GREaT Foundation. This is particularly applicable to our Donor of the Year 2010 – bet365 – who reflected its business growth by substantially increasing its donation to us."

He added:

"While it is invidious to pick out any one award winner, for all have gone beyond the call of duty, I feel that I must also acknowledge Punch Partnership – a GREaTest Donor 2010 award winner - who made a major donation and which, we hope, will encourage the rest of the pub sector to follow suit."

On winning Donor of the Year 2010, Denise Coates - Joint Chief Executive of bet365 - said:

"On behalf of the Industry, I would like to thank The GREaT Foundation for all its fundraising efforts. It is important for everyone to support GREaT – every company in the Gambling Industry should be able to contribute something. Social responsibility is taken very seriously at bet365 and significant donations to GREaT are one of the ways that we can demonstrate that. As one of the world’s leading online gambling companies, bet365 is encouraged to see the online sector maintaining its high levels of support for The GREaT Foundation."

The GREaT Foundation Annual Awards 2010 were sponsored by Ascot Racecourse, Betfair, Gala Coral Group, Ladbrokes plc, Praesepe plc, Satellite Information Services Ltd and William Hill plc and nominees were invited to enjoy an afternoon's racing prior to the Annual Awards ceremony.
